Steven C. Choquette

Steve Choquette, Esq., is passionate about helping parties and their advocates resolve disputes fairly, respectfully, and economically. His resolution skills are informed by 19 years as a mediator and arbitrator, and more than three decades as a lawyer in trials, appeals, arbitrations, and mediations. In April 2019, Steve joined the Denver office of JAMS, the world's largest private provider of neutrals, to provide ADR services full-time. Before JAMS, he practiced law with Holland & Hart LLP (1986-2007), Choquette & Simons LLP (2007-11), and Choquette & Hart LLP (2011-19), concentrating on commercial, insurance coverage, professional malpractice, personal injury, and wrongful death cases. He has mediated hundreds of cases in those areas as well as in construction, HOA, real estate, landlord-tenant, and business and professional practice dissolutions. Steve wrote “Colorado Law on Mediation: A Primer” for The Colorado Lawyer in 2006. Since then, he has spoken on the subject to hundreds of lawyers, judges, college and law students, and members of the public. He was adjunct professor of ADR at Denver University's Sturm College of Law. He was managing editor of Colorado Civil Claims: Elements, Defenses, and Sample Pleadings (CLE in Colorado, 2019). He has been a Colorado Super Lawyer® each year since 2006 (ADR, 2015-present; civil/commercial litigation, 2006-14), and named to Best Lawyers® in Commercial Litigation since 2014. He is a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and a Professional member of the Mediation Association of Colorado.
