Laura (Miranda Flefil) McKernan is a seasoned bilingual multicultural international lawyer. She joined the Pikes Peak Justice and Pro Bono Center (The Justice Center) two months ago with a mission to increase and promote equal access to justice in the region. She holds three law degrees: Bachelor of Laws from the Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH), Master of Laws in Corporate Law from the Technical University of Central America (UNITEC), and Master of Laws with a focus on International Law from Georgetown University Law Center (GULC). She previously clerked for the Constitutional Chambers of Supreme Court of Honduras and spent the last decade working with nonprofits who advocate at the UN and OAS level. She currently teaches law and foreign affairs online for the Technical University of Honduras (UTH) and the Defense University of Honduras (UDH). When asked Laura stated, “I am thrilled to be serving my new home by using my skills and experience to help those that find themselves living through vulnerable situations and need highly skilled legal advice and representation.” Laura is a new transplant to Colorado Springs where she currently resides with her husband, Col (R) Timothy McKernan, and their three dogs.
