Jay Forester, JD, LLM, is a senior manager in Plante Moran's state and local tax (SALT) practice. He works in all areas of SALT, including income/franchise, sales/use, and gross receipt taxes, but he mainly focuses on indirect taxes. Jay primarily works with clients in the service industry and with the firm's due diligence practice where he helps clients navigate the state tax issues that arise in a transaction. Jay is frequently asked to speak with clients, other professionals, and prospects about SALT issues including the sales tax changes due to the Wayfair decision, Colorado's complex sales tax rules, and the taxability of software. He received his B.S. in accounting from the University of Miami, his J.D. from the University of Tulsa, and his LL.M. in taxation from the University of Denver.
