W. LaNelle Owens is Associate General Counsel at Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. LaNelle is responsible for the global management of the trademark portfolio for Walmart and Sam's Club and product packaging reviews for the private brands GREAT VALUE (Walmart) and MEMBER'S MARK (Sam's Club), as well as managing the patent portfolio for Sam's Club. Prior to joining Walmart, LaNelle was Intellectual Property Counsel at John Deere and Senior Attorney, Intellectual Property at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden. LaNelle holds a degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois- Urbana-Champaign and is a Howard University School of Law graduate.
