Colleen E. Morey

Colleen Morey, Esq., is Deputy Legal Counsel to Governor Jared Polis. Currently, she advises the Governor on regulatory policy issues, including cannabis and natural medicine regulation. Prior to working for the Governor, Colleen was a Senior Assistant Attorney General representing professional licensing boards, including the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board in both a general counsel and litigation capacity. From 2011-2016, Colleen was an Assistant City Attorney with the City and County of Denver prosecuting municipal ordinance violations as well as representing the Department of Excise and Licensing at the beginning of retail marijuana regulation at the local level. She began her career as a Deputy District Attorney in the 8th Judicial District in Larimer County. Colleen received her B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Journalism from Loyola University Chicago in 2005 and her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University Chicago's School of Law in 2008. Colleen is married with two human children and one Old English Sheepdog child, Phyllis. As an avid runner, Colleen can be found in the early morning trotting along Denver's northside trying to avoid uneven sidewalks, mostly with success.
