Laurie Rhoades, Esq., is a principal at The Tula Group, a woman-owned firm specializing in intellectual property with an emphasis on copyrights, trademarks and licensing. Representative client include publishers, distance education, motion picture producers, film licensing, rights and permissions, and computer software along with individuals exploring creative entrepreneurial careers. With over thirty years experience, she has served as in-house counsel as well as an employee of the US Copyright Office in Washington, D, where among other responsibilities, she was appointed to the Clinton Administration's intra-governmental committee to study the impact of the “internet” on the then existing copyright law. Upon her return to Denver in the mid-1990's, she became a partner in a boutique IP firm which finally became known as Replin Rhoades & Ratner. She is active in a number of IP-related organizations including AIPLA, ABA - IP Section, Colorado Film and Video Association, and the Copyright Society of the USA where she served as a trustee and the chapter head of the Rocky Mountain Section. Coming from a family that homesteaded in Colorado and Wyoming, Laurie graduated from the University of Denver College of Law and remembers when it was located downtown - across from the City and County Building.
