Patty Powell, Esq., received her BA from Oberlin College and her law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law (DU Law). Following law school, Patty worked as a litigator for 12 years, serving as an Assistant Attorney General for Colorado, Deputy Denver District Attorney and a Commercial Litigation Associate in a major Denver law firm. Patty then transitioned into legal education at DU Law, where she has served as Assistant Dean of Career Development, Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Director of the Academic Achievement Program and Assistant Professor of the Practice. For many years, Patty has also advised diverse law students and conducted DEI training through her consulting business, Counsel for Counsel, LLC. Throughout her career, Patty has been committed to working with others to achieve a more diverse and inclusive legal profession. She was a co-founder of the Center for Legal Inclusiveness and has won awards for her work in the area of diversity, inclusion and equity in the legal profession. In the Fall of 2021, Patty returned to DU Law to serve as Assistant Director of the Private Sector in the Career Development Office, and in 2023, she transitioned into the role of Bar Exam Coach and Writing Advisor for the DU Bar Success Program. She is currently conducting one-on-one coaching of law students and new attorneys under the umbrella of Rathod Mohamedbhai (RM), a well regarded civil rights and employment discrimination law firm. Patty will also serve as Of-Counsel for RM, and is excited about having a unique platform upon which to combine law student and lawyer success coaching with a social justice-focused law practice.
