Scott also counsels property owners, general contractors, and subcontractors in contract review and drafting, in addition to defending and prosecuting construction defect claims arising from single-family and multi-family projects. Scott has experience both pursuing recovery and defending matters involving mechanics' liens. Scott is also the co-author of the construction law chapter for Colorado Methods of Practice, which generally covers most aspects of construction law in Colorado. In the real estate area, Scott represents landlords and tenants in commercial lease disputes and eviction matters throughout Colorado. Because of his trial skills, Scott is regularly sought out to handle contested commercial eviction matters. Scott has also represented employers in various employment actions, including Equal Employment Opportunity Commission charges of discrimination in the areas of disability, age, gender; whistleblower actions; enforcement of non-competition and non-disclosure agreements; and trade secret protection cases.
