James W. Beard, Esq., is a trial lawyer, whose litigation experience spans courts across the country in patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secret matters. With a focus on global strategy and crafting winning narratives, James does not limit his practice area to any particular niche, and has successfully litigated matters relating to consumer products, software, circuitry, photography, and even industrial HVAC systems. James began his career at a IP boutique before moving his practice to Kirkland & Ellis. In 2019, after a decade of litigating complex intellectual property matters in the San Francisco Bay Area, James moved to Colorado and joined Merchant & Gould. He has litigated extensively in Federal courts, as well as before the Patent Trial and Appeals Board, the Trademark Trial and Appeals Board, and more, and applies hard-won insights and strategies from these matters to every representation.
