Anne Bashir, Director, Trade Marks, Murgitroyd, Glasgow, Scotland, completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, and then went on to complete a Master’s degree in the Management of Intellectual Property at the University of London. She then worked for International Computers Limited, reviewing the intellectual property aspects of R&D and joint venture agreements, until she commenced her training as a trademark attorney. When she qualified, Anne joined Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) as a qualified trademark attorney, involved in all aspect of trademarks, and due diligence surrounding disposals, mergers and acquisitions in particular. After ten years in the industry, Anne joined Fitzpatricks in private practice, then Murgitroyd. She now has more than 13 years of experience in private practice. Anne has advised companies of all sizes (SMEs and large corporates) on all aspects of their IP – trademarks, copyright, design rights and passing off (including licenses, agreements, due diligence and dispute resolution).She has extensive experience representing clients in oppositions and applications for invalidity before the UK Intellectual Property Office and the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). She has also supported clients in litigation before the Scottish courts in particular,as a result of which she is familiar with the relevant aspects of both English and Scots law. Today, Anne supports a diverse range of clients in a variety of fields.She works with professional institutes, finance companies, whisky makers and fashion designers and producers. Clients also work in entertainment, online gaming, online retailing, beauty, agriculture, water treatment, chemical processing and fish farming.
