Hogene L. Choi is a Partner in the Palo Alto office of the international law firm of Baker Botts L.L.P. Ms. Choi co-chairs the Patent Prosecution Practice Group, and she works on a range of intellectual property matters, focusing primarily on patent prosecution, transactions, and counseling for clients ranging from dynamic startups to Fortune 100 companies. Ms. Choi's experience covers technologies related to machine learning and artificial intelligence, blockchain, computer vision, big data, cloud infrastructure and services, internet applications and server-side architecture, desktop applications and operating systems, graphics and audio/video as well as semiconductors, medical devices, bioinformatics, electronics, nanotechnology and the mechanical arts. Ms. Choi's patent litigation experience includes cases filed at the U.S. District Courts and at the U.S. International Trade Commission. Prior to her legal career, she worked for eight years as a software engineer and engineering project manager at various high-tech companies, including several startups. She currently serves on the Board of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) as the 2018-2020 Northern California Regional Governor, as well as co-chairing NAPABA's IP Committee. Ms. Choi holds two degrees from the University of California: a J.D. from U. C. Hastings College of Law and a B.A. in computer science from U. C. Berkeley.
