U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado
The Honorable R. Brooke Jackson of Bow Mar, Colorado, has been a venerable figure of Colorado's legal community for many years. He graduated from Dartmouth College, Magna Cum Laude, in 1969, moving on to Harvard Law School, where he received first place in the Ames Competition, a moot court exercise. He graduated cum laude from Harvard in 1972, and moved to Denver to join Holland & Hart. Judge Jackson was with Holland & Hart until 1998. He left Holland & Hart when he was appointed by then-governor Roy Romer to be a District Court Judge in the first judicial district. In 2003, Chief Justice Mary Mullarkey appointed Judge Jackson as the Chief Judge. In September 2010, he was nominated to the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Judge Jackson has been a prominent figure in Colorado's legal community for many years. He has taught classes for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, the University of Denver School of Law, and numerous CLE seminars. He has also been published many times, from articles in The Colorado Lawyer to being a co-author of the ABA's Section of Litigation publication, Manual for Complex Insurance Coverage Litigation. Some of his law-related honors include Law Week Colorado's “Barrister's Best - Best State Trial Court Judge” award (2010), the Judicial Excellence Award by the American Board of Trial Advocates (2008), the Denver Business Journal's “Best of the Bar” Lifetime Achievement Award (2004), and listings in The Best Lawyers in America and Who's Who in American Law for many years.
