Dr. Ellen Blatt serves as the judicial assistant and law clerk to Justice Maria E. Berkenkotter of the Colorado Supreme Court. She graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in May 2022 where she received several awards including the Reese Persuasive Writing Award and the award for Outstanding Student Attorney in the Civil Litigation Clinic. Ellen was admitted to the Colorado Bar in October 2022. Ellen graduated from Duke University in 1992 with a degree in public policy. After college, she pursued a career in medicine. Ellen graduated from the Duke University School of Medicine in 1998. She completed a medical internship at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia in 2000, a radiology residency at the University of California San Diego in 2004, and a fellowship in pediatric radiology at the Children’s Hospital Colorado in 2005. Ellen is board certified in radiology and holds a certificate of added qualification in pediatric radiology. She practiced medicine for nearly twenty years, dedicating most of her career to caring for Denver’s children as a partner in a large private practice. She was well regarded in the Denver medical community and in 2015 her peers voted her top pediatric radiologist in Denver. In addition to her clinical work, Ellen held numerous leadership roles in her practice and with its hospital partners. She served as the pediatric radiology section head, chairperson of the department of radiology, and chairperson of the credentials committee, to name just a few. To expand her ability to impact her Colorado community, Ellen pivoted her career to the law in 2019. In her free time, Ellen coaches mock trial at Arrupe Jesuit High School, supports her son Garrett’s charity, Musician’s United for Change, provides long distance encouragement to her daughter Jordan, who is at college in Connecticut, and goes for long hikes with her husband Jesse and her Bernese Mountain Dog Neptune.
