Hathaway Pease Russell, Esq., is a partner with Foley Hoag LLP and practices intellectual property law. She has extensive experience assisting global corporations, research institutions, and start-up companies with many aspects of intellectual property law, including patent portfolio management, freedom-to-operate analysis, due diligence, complex patent litigation and interference proceedings. Hathaway has a particular interest in the life science areas of pharmacogenomics, proteomics and disease biomarkers, and their application to personalized medicine. Hathaway offers a specialty at the intersection of intellectual property strategy, regulatory issues and litigation. She collaborates with the firm's Government Strategies Group on regulatory matters, including recent initiatives by the FDA in the area of advanced diagnostics, and also works with the Litigation Group and has filed amicus briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court in numerous cases including Mayo Collaborative Services and Mayo Clinic Rochester v. Prometheus Laboratories, Inc. In addition to her practice, Hathaway is an active member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
