Leonard P. Stark

Hon. Leonard P. Stark is Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. He has been a District Judge since 2010 and for the previous three years was a Magistrate Judge on the same Court. Prior to his tenure on the bench, Judge Stark had worked as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Delaware and a litigation associate in the Delaware office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. He began his legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Walter K. Stapleton of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.  Judge Stark is a graduate of the University of Delaware, the University of Oxford (Magdalen College), and Yale Law School. In addition to his judicial duties, Judge Stark has served on the Judicial Conference of the United States (JCUS), which is the policy-making body of the federal courts. He has served on the Judicial Resources Committee of the JCUS since 2018. Judge Stark has also created two courses for the University of Pennsylvania Law School - one focused on recurring issues in complex litigation and the other on pharmaceutical patent litigation - each of which he has taught three times.
