Tomoya Kurokawa is a Vice President and the Director of Trademark Department of SOEI Patent and Law Firm in Tokyo, Japan.  Since joining SOEI in 1997 and qualifying as a Japanese patent attorney in 1999, he handles not only patent prosecutions, oppositions, and expert opinions, especially in the fields of mobile communications, computer architecture, and software, but also counsels his clients on establishing and maintaining their trademark portfolios and protecting their brands.  He is a member of the JPAA' s International Activities Center for many years, and sometimes served as a delegate to international intellectual property conferences and meetings hosted by AIPLA and IPO. He is a contributor of the Japan part of “Trademarks Throughout the World” (West Group).  He was an adjunct professor at Toyama University and a lecturer at Hakuoh University where taught Intellectual Property Law and Treaties.
