Michele R. Korver is the Digital Currency Counsel for the United States Department of Justice, assigned to the Criminal Division's Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section.  Michele has served in the DOJ since 2003 as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Miami, Florida, and Denver, Colorado, U.S. Attorney's Offices.  She has investigated and prosecuted hundreds of violations of federal criminal law in U.S. courts, with a focus on transnational criminal organizations, money laundering, cybercrime, and drug trafficking and subject matter expertise in prosecutions involving darknet markets and cryptocurrency.   Prior to attending law school, Michele started her career as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, conducting financial investigations in their Miami Field Office.  Michele clerked for United States District Judge William P. Dimitrouleas in the Southern District of Florida and received her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law where she served as Managing Editor of the University of Miami Law Review.
