Elizabeth Stapp joined the CESR team in 2011. She practiced law as both a summer associate and associate in Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher's Denver office. During her time at Gibson Dunn, she worked on securities litigation matters and intellectual property transactional work for the Denver, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles offices. After Gibson Dunn, she held two, permanent federal clerkships with both the Honorable Robert E. Blackburn and Magistrate Craig B. Shaffer in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. Over her five-year tenure, she managed over 150 cases; drafted judicial opinions and jury instructions; resolved bankruptcy appeals; and assisted in all aspects of trial and judicial decision-making. After practicing law for seven years, she joined Daniels College of Business in 2007, as part-time faculty and, in 2010, as full-time faculty. While at DU, her students and colleagues nominated her for the following awards: Distinguished Teaching Award; Ruth Murray Underhill Teaching Award; Daniels Award for Excellence; and Outstanding Student Organization Advisor. Additionally, the Department of Athletics selected her to serve as a "Pioneer Professor" mentor for its sports teams. She continues to practice law serving as pro bono representation for low-income clients and assisting them with domestic violence, eviction, and contract issues. Additionally, she recently worked for an ethics compliance firm, consulting with and drafting codes of ethical conduct for several “Fortune 500” companies.
