Chad E. King
King IAM LLCChad E. King, is a partner with Swanson & Bratschun, LLC. Prior to joining Swanson & Bratschun, Chad was a partner with Townsend Townsend & Crew LLP. Chad counsels clients ranging from garage start-ups to Fortune 500 corporations, primarily in the areas of telecommunications, software and electronics, sporting goods, and outdoor products. Many of Chad's clients are involved with computer and communication technologies, including Internet security, global navigation, database and applications software, business methods and electronic commerce, and network hardware. Chad provides services across a range of intellectual property fields, including patent prosecution and strategic portfolio management, pre-litigation counseling and opinion work in the patent field, and trademark and copyright prosecution and counseling. Chad also has experience in adversarial proceedings, including patent reexaminations and trademark opposition/cancellation proceedings in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well as intellectual property litigation at the trial and appellate levels in both state and federal courts. Chad received a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Colorado and received a JD, magna cum laude, from Cornell Law School. Before and while attending law school, Chad worked for IBM developing software and networking solutions. After attending law school, Chad clerked for the Honorable Jerry E. Smith on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Chad was named a "Rising Star" in the 2013 edition of Colorado Super Lawyers magazine.
