U.S. District Court, District of Colorado
The Honorable S. Kato Crews was appointed a District Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado in January 2024. Before that, he served as a magistrate judge on the same court from 2018 until his appointment as a district judge. Judge Crews' earlier career as a trial lawyer spanned a variety of settings, including as a founding partner of a small law firm, a partner at a large law firm, and an attorney with the U.S. National Labor Relations Board. He, along with the CBA Young Lawyers Division, is the founder of the Federal Limited Appearance Program (FLAP), a program that provides free legal representation to unrepresented litigants during certain federal court hearings. Judge Crews also serves on the Board of Directors of CBA CLE, Inc. A Colorado native, Judge Crews received his B.A. from the University of Northern Colorado, and his J.D. from the University of Arizona, where he was a member of the Arizona Law Review.
