The Honorable S. Kato Crews is an Article III Judge in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, appointed in 2023. Judge Crews served as a Magistrate Judge for the Court from 2018 to 2023.. A Colorado native, he earned his law degree from the University of Arizona where he served on the Arizona Law Review, and received his undergraduate degree from the University Northern Colorado. Judge Crews began his career as an attorney with the U.S. National Labor Relations Board. He then entered private practice with a large Denver law firm where he made partner, and later became a founding partner of a small law firm in the Denver Tech Center. When practicing law, Judge Crews was a trial lawyer who focused on general civil litigation and traditional labor and employment law matters. He is the founder of the Federal Limited Appearance Program (FLAP) in conjunction with the CBA YLD, which provides pro bono representation to pro se litigants during certain federal court hearings. He also serves on the Board of Directors of CBA CLE, Inc.
