Iris Halpern, Esq., is a partner at Rathod | Mohamedb­hai LLC where her practice focuses on employ­ment dis­crim­i­na­tion and con­sti­tu­tional civil rights lit­i­ga­tion. Before joining Rathod Mohamedb­hai, Iris worked at the Denver Field Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, ulti­mately serv­ing as a Senior Trial Attor­ney and Act­ing Super­vi­sory Attor­ney. Iris has frequently represented plaintiffs in systemic large class cases. She was part of the legal team awarded the Col­orado Trial Lawyers Asso­ci­a­tion Case of the Year Award in 2016 for the multi-plaintiff sex­ual harass­ment, national ori­gin and racial dis­crim­i­na­tion case EEOC and Bal­tazar et al v. Vail Run Com­mu­nity Resort Asso­ci­a­tion. She served as lead trial attorney on the cases EEOC v. Jet­Stream Ground Ser­vices, a multi-plaintiff failure-to-hire reli­gious dis­crim­i­na­tion and accom­mo­da­tion case, and EEOC v. JBS Swift & Co., a one-month bench trial involv­ing hun­dreds of Mus­lim vic­tims who were denied reli­gious accom­mo­da­tion. Iris worked on some of the EEOC's initial law­suits on behalf of transgender victims of discrimination, includ­ing  as lead attor­ney on EEOC v. Deluxe Finan­cial, Corp., a case which resulted in a con­sent decree rec­og­niz­ing the right of trans­gen­der employ­ees to use a restroom com­men­su­rate with their gen­der iden­tity. She has also litigated on behalf of bipolar and HIV+ employees, and brought subpoena enforcement actions against major corporations, including EEOC v. Dish Network, LLC, Civ. No. 1:13-cv-03294 (D. Colo. 2013) in which the agency sought nationwide information about the company's online application process and its impact on applicants with disabilities. Iris has published widely on employment law top­ics, including the rules of evidence and civil procedure in sexual harassment cases, advice to employees on their rights during the COVID-19 pandemic, and she is a co-author of the chapter E-Discovery in the Workplace: Employee Perspective in the Amer­i­can Bar Asso­ci­a­tion (ABA) & Bloomberg BNA trea­tise WORKPLACE DATA: LAW AND LITIGATION. Iris is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and has taught employment discrimination at the University of Colorado Law School, Boulder.
