Iris Halpern, Esq., is a partner at Rathod | Mohamedbhai LLC where her practice focuses on employment discrimination and constitutional civil rights litigation. Before joining Rathod Mohamedbhai, Iris worked at the Denver Field Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, ultimately serving as a Senior Trial Attorney and Acting Supervisory Attorney. Iris has frequently represented plaintiffs in systemic large class cases. She was part of the legal team awarded the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association Case of the Year Award in 2016 for the multi-plaintiff sexual harassment, national origin and racial discrimination case EEOC and Baltazar et al v. Vail Run Community Resort Association. She served as lead trial attorney on the cases EEOC v. JetStream Ground Services, a multi-plaintiff failure-to-hire religious discrimination and accommodation case, and EEOC v. JBS Swift & Co., a one-month bench trial involving hundreds of Muslim victims who were denied religious accommodation. Iris worked on some of the EEOC's initial lawsuits on behalf of transgender victims of discrimination, including as lead attorney on EEOC v. Deluxe Financial, Corp., a case which resulted in a consent decree recognizing the right of transgender employees to use a restroom commensurate with their gender identity. She has also litigated on behalf of bipolar and HIV+ employees, and brought subpoena enforcement actions against major corporations, including EEOC v. Dish Network, LLC, Civ. No. 1:13-cv-03294 (D. Colo. 2013) in which the agency sought nationwide information about the company's online application process and its impact on applicants with disabilities. Iris has published widely on employment law topics, including the rules of evidence and civil procedure in sexual harassment cases, advice to employees on their rights during the COVID-19 pandemic, and she is a co-author of the chapter E-Discovery in the Workplace: Employee Perspective in the American Bar Association (ABA) & Bloomberg BNA treatise WORKPLACE DATA: LAW AND LITIGATION. Iris is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and has taught employment discrimination at the University of Colorado Law School, Boulder.
