Colorado Mental Health Institute at PueblosBirgit Fisher, PhD, is a licensed Clinical Psychologist, has served as the Assistant Superintendent for Clinical Services of the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo (CMHIP) since November 2011. She started her career with CMHIP in June 2003 and assumed the role of Director of CMHIP's Sexual Treatment and Evaluation Program in February 2004. In this role, she made recommendations to the institute and courts regarding patients' treatment needs and level of risk and provided consultation in complex, difficult to treat high-risk cases. In May 2008, Dr. Fisher was appointed as Director of Sol Vista. In this role, she provided administrative oversight over all program and security components of this maximum secure long-term treatment facility that offered rehabilitative services for juveniles with high mental health needs committed to the Department of Human Services. In addition to her responsibilities at CMHIP, Dr. Fisher is a Core Associate Professor with the University of the Rockies, teaching graduate level classes in Clinical and Organizational Psychology. She is also an Adjunct Faculty member of the Colorado Technical University where she teaches in the Department of Security Studies. Dr. Fisher, a Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) approved evaluator and treatment provider for adult and juvenile offenders, has served on subcommittees of the SOMB and recently on the Sex Offense Working Group of the Sentencing Task Force of the Colorado Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice. She continues to serve as a member of the Governor's Mental Health Advisory Board. Dr. Fisher is a Clinical Member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers and a Certified EMDR clinician. She has been a presenter at multiple national and international conferences, including ATSA, EMDRIA and APA and has been published in the areas of neuroscience, gerontology and neuropsychology.
