Dividing the Waters Program, Thr National Judicial College
Alf W. Brandt leads many efforts to advance environmental law, and water law in particular.  In his day job, he serves the California State Assembly as Senior Counsel to Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon.  At night and on vacation days, he serves as Executive Director of the National Judicial College's Dividing the Waters Program.  He also chairs the 2016 American Bar Association conference on environment, energy and resources, in Denver in October.  Prior to joining the Assembly staff, Brandt served as a water lawyer for the Department of the Interior, Federal Agency Coordinator at the CALFED Bay-Delta Program, and as the leader of the City of Los Angeles delegation to the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.  Brandt earned his J.D. in 1988 from University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall School of Law), and his B.A. magna cum laude in 1983 from UCLA.
