Matthew B. Finnigan

Matthew Finnigan, Esq., is a senior trial attorney with the United States Department of Labor, Office of the Solicitor, in Denver, Colo.  He litigates cases arising under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, the Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, and various whistleblower protection statutes.  He also serves as an instructor at the National Mine Health and Safety Academy in Beckley, W.V.  Before joining DOL in 2009, Mr. Finnigan worked as an associate attorney in the law firms of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck in Denver, Colo. and Richards, Watson & Gershon in Los Angeles, Calif.  He is a 2003 graduate of the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and a 1992 graduate of the University of Kansas (B.S. journalism).  Before law school, Mr. Finnigan served as assistant director/media and public relations at USA Basketball in Colorado Springs, Colo. and as assistant sports information director at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo.
