Darlene Gonzales, Secretary, retired as a Contracting Officer with 36 years of federal contracting experience in the Department of Defense and federal civilian agencies. She also retired from the US Navy Reserves after 21 years of military service. Her Navy career led her to Hawaii, England, Spain, Germany, and Afghanistan. She deployed to Afghanistan in 2007 supporting Operation Enduring Freedom as the Director of Contracting. There, she performed humanitarian aid missions and promoted Afghanistan women's issues. Since her retirement from civil and military service, she volunteers as an advocate for Women Veterans who need a “hand-up." She serves on the Board of Directors for Women Veterans of Colorado and also Veteran First Ltd. in Phoenix. Darlene is married and resides in Littleton Colorado. She is a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
