Ryan Zeender is currently a Supervisory Patent Examiner (SPE) in the Business Methods area of Technology Center 3600. His art unit 3627 specializes in electronic commerce including point of sale applications, inventory management, and accounting. Mr. Zeender joined the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in January 1992 as a patent examiner in the mechanical arts with a focus on land vehicles. In 1996, he moved to the private sector as a patent liaison in the Research and Development department at Nike, Inc. in Beaverton, OR. While at Nike, he contributed to the prosecution and litigation of both utility and design patents. In 1999, he returned to the USPTO and joined the newly formed Business Methods work group. In 2006, Mr. Zeender became the SPE of his art unit. Ryan Zeender currently lives in Boulder, CO and is a full-time SPE hoteler. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland and a Master's degree in Business Administration. In his free time, Ryan enjoys the outdoors, cycling, and competing in triathlons.
