Honorable Mark R. Dawson is a member of the state bars of Iowa and California. He served 20 years on active duty as a Navy JAG officer, specializing in legal medicine. Following several years as a Special Ass't. U.S. Attorney in the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office in San Diego, where he represented the Government in Social Security disability appeals before the District and Ninth Circuit courts, he was appointed an ALJ.  Over the past 22 years, Judge Dawson has held over 15,000 disability hearings.   Prior to his transfer to ODAR Denver in 2013, he was posted to Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Lexington, Kentucky; Metairie, Louisiana; and Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has served as a Hearing Office Chief Judge in Kentucky, Louisiana and New Mexico.
