Shelly DeRousse is a Partner and Co-Leader of the Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Practice Group at Freeborn & Peters LLP.  Shelly has extensive experience in the areas of bankruptcy, restructuring, workouts, litigation, and asset sales.  She regularly represents secured lenders and creditors committees in Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.  She has also represented clients ranging from large publicly traded companies in mega-bankruptcy cases to smaller privately held middle market companies in Chapter 11 cases.  She also advises both creditors and debtors in out-of-court business restructuring, workouts of borrowers' loans and assignments for the benefit of creditors.  Shelly has taught Secured Transactions at DePaul University College of Law.  She is the President of the Women's Bar Foundation of Illinois and serves on the Turnaround Management Association's Committee for Networking of Women and several American Bankruptcy Institute committees.
