American Veterans AidPhilip VanderHamm has worked in the financial services industry for over 30 years, having been an insurance agent and stock broker for much of that time. He was on staff at MetLife for 7 years specializing as a Pension consultant from 1992 to 1999. During that time he obtained numerous accreditations, including: CFP, Certified Financial Planner CLU, Chartered Life Underwriter, CEBS, Certified Employee Benefit Specialist,
QPA, Qualified Plan Administrator of the American Society of Pension Actuaries. On August 20th, 2010, Mr. VanderHamm was approved as an accredited agent for the Veterans Administration. In order to obtain that accreditation he studied the Code of Federal Regulations, section 38, and also hundreds of pages of interpretive guidelines for the CFR 38. CFR 38 covers not only the non-service connected Pension benefits but also Service Connected Compensation Benefits. Testing is done over these hundreds of pages of regulations and the questions cover both service connected and non-service connected benefits. In addition, he is required to do continuing education on a biannual basis. On a daily basis he reviews current issues and questions with other accredited agents and attorneys in a forum that has over 500 members.
