Avram L. Sacks
Attorney at LawAvram L. Sacks, Esq., is an attorney with a private practice concentrating on Social Security law and benefits. He is a former Assistant Regional Counsel for the Social Security Administration, and, for 24 years, was editor of the CCH Social Security Law Reporter. He is the author of two books on Social Security Law, a desktop manual for attorneys, accountants, and HR professionals (CCH Social Security Explained), and a benefits booklet for laypeople (CCH Social Security Benefits Including Medicare). As a practicing attorney, Mr. Sacks has successfully represented clients in Social Security cases before the U.S. District Court of Northern Illinois, and the U.S. Sixth and Seventh Circuit Courts of Appeals. He is a graduate of Indiana University (A.B. Biology, Near Eastern Languages & Literature, 1976) and Case Western Reserve University School of Law (J.D. 1981), and, is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and its Social Security Law Committee, the National Academy of Elderlaw Attorneys (NAELA) and its Government Assistance Programs Steering Committee and the National Organization of Social Security Claimant's Representatives (NOSSCR). Mr. Sacks frequently lectures to both lay and professional groups across the country on Social Security matters and advises clients on how to maximize their Social Security retirement benefits through optimal claiming strategies.
