Forensic Psychology ConsultingRobert A. Simon, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist (licensed in California and Hawaii) and a Nationally Recognized Leader in Forensic Psychologist Consulting with 30 years of experience in the legal domain of family law and domestic relations. Based in San Diego, CA, Dr. Simon consults on cases throughout the United States and has lectured/taught internationally. He has consulted on cases in 16 states and has been qualified as an expert witness in 12 states and in two Canadian provinces. Dr. Simon's professional practice focuses exclusively on forensic psychological evaluation and consultation in child custody disputes. In addition to custody evaluation and mediation, Dr. Simon is a national leader in providing expert witness testimony, strategic case consultation/”second chair” services and review/critique of child custody evaluations and other family law forensic work products related to custodial issues. Along with his consulting practice, Dr. Simon is a writer, author and lecturer. Dr. Simon's groundbreaking book entitled “Forensic Psychology Consulting in Child Custody Litigation” was published in May 2013 by the American Bar Association. Dr. Simon has written for the Family Advocate (A publication of the American Bar Association) and writes a monthly column entitled “Forensic Corner” for the Section of Family Law of the American Bar Association. Dr. Simon is the author of a cutting edge article on conducting custody evaluations in Military Families to be published in the Family Court Review in 2014 and his article on the importance of comprehensive analysis will be published in the next issue of the Family Law Quarterly. He is currently working on a second book for the American Bar Association on the use of attorney/psychologist teams and litigation strategy in high conflict child custody litigation with an anticipated publication date of late 2015. He is a member of the faculty of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy/America Bar Association Family Law Trial Institute that takes place each summer in Boulder, Colorado. He has also taught Trial Advocacy with the San Diego County Bar Association's Trial College and with the Northern California Chapter of the AAML's Trial Advocacy Institute. He has given numerous invited presentations and lectures to groups including the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, the California Bar Association, the Nevada Bar Association's Family Law Section, the Northern California Chapter of the AAML, the Section of Family Law of the American Bar Association and the World Congress on Family Law and Children's Rights. A member of the Board of Directors of the AFCC, Dr. Simon is a member of the editorial boards of the Family Court Review and the Open Access Journal of Forensic Psychology. In addition to his work in forensic psychology, Dr. Simon is an ethicist. He is a member of the Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct of the California Bar Association and a senior member of the Ethics Committee of the California Psychological Association.
