Bonnie H. McLean
18th Judicial District
The Honorable Bonnie McLean graduated cum laude from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1995. In 1998 she was awarded a Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver. In 2000, she began her legal career as a Deputy District Attorney in the 18th Judicial District. In 2006 she was sworn in as County Court Magistrate for the 18th Judicial District. In 2011, she founded the 18th Judicial District's Drug Court and presided over all three specialty courts including the Wellness (Mental Health) court and the Veteran's Treatment Court. In 2012 she won the Judicial Officer of the Year award from the State of Colorado and the 2012 Magistrate of the Year award from the Colorado Judicial Institute. In 2015 she was appointed as District Court Judge and is currently the Presiding Judge for the Domestic Relations and Juvenile dockets as well as the Problem Solving Courts. Finally, in 2019 she founded the 18th Judicial District Sobriety (Felony DUI) Court. She currently hears a juvenile docket as well as all four problem solving courts in Arapahoe County.
