Mary Kay . Meintzer

Sheridan Health Services
Mary Kay Meintzer, LPC, CACII, currently works as the Integrated Care Coordinator at Sheridan Health Services (SHS), a nurse-managed Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) operated by the University of Colorado College of Nursing.  In this role, she guides the clinical delivery of integrated care-the coordination of mental health, substance abuse, and primary care services-as member of a multi-disciplinary team.  Prior to this position, Mary Kay was the Shelter Program Director at Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN), a human rights organization committed to ending violence against adults, youth, and children.  SPAN's anti-oppression framework reinforced Mary Kay's passion for providing relevant and culturally competent support to marginalized communities and her aspiration to infuse social justice principles into all her interactions-both personal and professional.  She earned her Master's degree from the University of Colorado at Denver and has over 11 years of counseling experience and 6 years of counseling educator experience acting as a clinical supervisor.  Promoting community education and awareness of behavioral health and social justice issues energizes Mary Kay.  She joined National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) as the Diversity Outreach Coordinator for Arapahoe and Douglas counties to increase outreach to the Latin@, Spanish-speaking, and immigrant communities and to other marginalized communities whose experience of behavioral health issues can often be met with language and cultural barriers, anti-immigrant sentiment, high rates of poverty, and community isolation.
