Bevin M.B. Newman, Esq., focuses on antitrust counseling and agency practice, emphasizing mergers and acquisitions in highly regulated sectors, such as health care and national security. Bevin has extensive experience coordinating the regulatory reviews of complex and multijurisdictional transactions that involve multiple federal and state agencies. She serves as one of the Firm's leading lawyers in Hart-Scott-Rodino premerger notification requirements and often coordinates multi-country merger reviews. Bevin also frequently represents clients in Exon-Florio reviews before the multiagency Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), and she has substantial experience counseling U.S. clients, as well as clients in China, Singapore, France, Canada, Germany, Japan, and the U.K. on federal regulation of transactions that impact U.S. national security and critical infrastructure. Bevin's merger-related work spans diverse industries, such as energy, aerospace and defense. She has a particular interest in antitrust issues in health care. She regularly advises health care clients on significant mergers, including CVS/Caremark and Caremark/AdvancePCS and the acquisitions of Great West, HealthSource, and HealthSpring by CIGNA; M-Care by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan; and Clinical Laboratories by Quest Diagnostics. Bevin also has assisted in multiple health care antitrust matters for Abbot Laboratories, CIGNA, UnityPoint Health, and UPMC. Bevin is the author of Antitrust Aspects of Mergers and Acquisitions (BNA Corp. Practice Series) and "An Overview of Federal Antitrust Laws and Enforcement Policies," (CCH Health Care Compliance Professionals Manual), served on the editorial board for the ABA's Antitrust Compliance, and is a member of the Antitrust Section of the ABA and the American Health Lawyers Association.
