Kevin G. McAnaney, Esq., is a sole practitioner in Washington, D.C. specializing in health care fraud and abuse laws.  Mr. McAnaney served as the Chief of the Industry Guidance Branch of the Office of Counsel to the Inspector General from 1997 until 2003. In that position, he was responsible for issuing formal guidance to the regulated community through advisory opinions, fraud alerts and special bulletins, compliance guidances, and regulations related to the fraud and abuse authorities enforced by the Office of Inspector General, including the anti-kickback and Stark statutes.  Prior to his government service, Mr. McAnaney was partner in the Dewey Ballantine law firm where he practiced health law.  Mr. McAnaney also served as Assistant Counsel to New York Governor Hugh Carey and as the Director of Legal Affairs for the New York Hospital. He is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Maryland Law School, a past member of the Board of Directors of the American Health Lawyers Association, and a frequent speaker on health care fraud issues.
