Emily Seymour Costin is a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Alston & Bird LLP, where she focuses her practice on the defense of employment and employee benefits disputes and counseling employers, plan sponsors and fiduciaries on litigation avoidance strategies. Emily represents plan sponsors, insurers and fiduciaries in litigation over claims for benefits and breach of fiduciary duty under ERISA. She has experience litigating various types of ERISA disputes, including those involving 401(k)/employer stock, employee stock ownership plans (ESOP), benefit termination, investment/fee matters and individual benefit claims. She is the chair of the ABA TIPS Employee Benefits Committee and a member of the ABA's Joint Committee on Employee Benefits (JCEB).
