The Honorable Magistrate Simon Mole received his J.D. from the University of Colorado in 1998, after a decade in academia and post-doctoral research: law is his second career.  He has practiced as a legal aid attorney and as a staff attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado.  In October 2001, he became one of the first Family Court Facilitators, and was actively involved in implementing the “simplified dissolution” pilot project in the Seventeenth Judicial District (Adams County).  He was one of the original members of the Standing Committee for Families in the Colorado Courts, and was active in drafting C.R.C.P. Rule 16.2.  He became a full time magistrate in the Seventeenth Judicial District in September 2006 and is currently member of Colorado's Access to Justice Commission.
