Bennett M. Sigmond

Bennett Sigmond, JD, received an A.B. in Economics, cum laude, from the University of Illinois in Urbana and a J.D. from UCLA School of Law. Before joining the USPTO, he practiced law in Los Angeles, California and then in Denver, Colorado, concentrating in business and technology transactions. While in Denver, Mr. Sigmond returned to college, studying Computer Science at Regis University and Physics at the University of Colorado Denver. He became a Registered Patent Attorney in January of 2009. Mr. Sigmond joined the USPTO in July of 2010 as an examiner in Art Unit 3688, Business Methods/Advertising. Since May of 2018, he has served as a Supervisory Patent Examiner in the Finance work group (Art Unit 3694). Mr. Sigmond has been published in The Colorado Lawyer and has provided continuing legal education through CLE in Colorado, Inc. on topics related to business and technology transactions.  He currently serves as the Point of Contact regarding 35 U.S.C. § 101 for the Finance work group in Business Methods and has participated in STEPP and the Rocky Mountain Intellectual Property & Technology Institute as a faculty member.
