Daniel P. Rubinstein, Esq., began as a Deputy District Attorney in Mesa County, Colorado in 1996. Beginning in 2000, he handled primarily a caseload of Sexual Assault on Child cases for 2 1/2 years. He left the DA’s office in July of 2002, and worked in private practice doing Estate Planning and Business Law. In January of 2005, the District Attorney's Office brought him back as the Chief Deputy District Attorney in charge of the drug unit. He remained with that assignment until 2012, when he took over the crimes against children unit. He was appointed District Attorney in October of 2015, was elected to serve in that role in November of 2016 and 2020 and still serves in that role. The Colorado District Attorney's Council recognized him as the Colorado Prosecutor of the Year for 2009. He has been appointed or elected to serve on several boards or committees by the Governor of Colorado, the Attorney General of Colorado, and local groups. These have included being the chair of the Community Corrections Board for 8 years, serving on the Mesa County Drug Threat Oversight Committee, the State Meth Task Force, and the District Attorney's Legislative Committee and Governing Board.
