Law Office of Byron K. Hammond, LLC
Byron Hammond, Esq., is a resident of Denver, is a seasoned attorney and adjunct professor of law at the University of Denver. Byron's law practice has included various aspects of estate planning, trust drafting and administration, estate tax issues, probate administration, and elder law. In his 13-year career as a law professor, Byron has taught courses in Trusts and Estates, Health Law and a nationally recognized Elder Law Seminar. He has published several papers germane to his areas of expertise and has participated in many conference presentations. His personalized approach to legal life planning includes wills, trusts, powers of attorney, estate tax planning, probate, and elder law. His practice also includes protecting a client's pets with proper estate planning, including pet trusts. “What I'm bringing to this practice is my desire to connect on a personal level with each client,” Byron explains. “I want to spend the time necessary for understanding what makes my clients tick, and what their life priorities are. With that information, I can then assemble an affordable, customized estate plan to meet their specific legal needs.” Byron was born in Kansas and earned a bachelor's degree and MBA from Wichita University. He attended law school at Washburn University. After moving to Denver in 1995, Byron practiced law in estate planning, later becoming a partner in a firm emphasizing estate planning, elder law, and Medicare compliance. He received his Master of Law in Taxation (LL.M.), attending the University of Denver (DU) for evening classes. In 2001, Byron was selected to be an adjunct professor at DU teaching Trusts and Estate law. His role was later expanded to Health Law, and he has served as an interim director of the law school's Will Lab program. “My reason for starting this solo law practice is to continue my lifelong desire to help people,” Byron says. “People have always been comfortable confiding in me. That's pretty important when we're discussing such personal and sensitive topics as planning for death or disability, guardianships, trusts for children, etc.” Byron offers an initial one-hour complimentary appointment to assess client needs.
