Michele Stark Carey, Esq. has been with Ruegsegger Simons & Stern, LLC. since 2003. Her practice of more than 20 years involves all matters of civil and workers' compensation defense, with an emphasis on appeals, litigation, and Medicare Secondary Payer compliance. She has successfully argued at the Colorado Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals resulting in several published opinions specific to workers' compensation law. Ms. Carey has presented at the National Medicare Secondary Payer Network Annual Conference, as well as lectured on workers' compensation law and Medicare secondary payer compliance issues for employers and insurers. Ms. Carey received an economics degree from Texas A&M University (Whoop!) and her Juris Doctorate from Baylor Law School. While at Baylor Law School, she was the president of Phi Delta Phi, and a member of the Order of Barristers. She is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Texas Bar Association, the New Mexico Bar Association, and the National MSP Network.
