Kathryn Young is managing Litigation and Legal Risk Management at Micro Focus International plc as of September 1, 2017, after the successful spin-off of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company's Software business unit and the merger with Micro Focus International plc. In this new role, Ms. Young will be responsible for managing complex commercial and employment litigation matters and escalated investigations, and providing pre-litigation advice and support to the business units and global functions, including Human Resources, Employee Relations, Internal Audit, Global Corporate Services, IT, and Sales Compensation Operations. Previously, Ms. Young was with Hewlett-Packard Company and Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company for 19.5 years.  Most recently, she was Director and Senior Employment and Commercial Litigation Manager for Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company.  Ms. Young managed complex employment and commercial litigation, all employment class action matters, as well as government-related litigation.  In her prior roles, she managed a team of attorneys responsible for all single-plaintiff employment matter and was Regional Employment Counsel within Hewlett-Packard Company focusing primarily on internal investigations and employment advice and counsel.  In addition, in her various roles, Ms. Young advises the company and provides training across the business units on a variety of subject matters, including those related to compliance, pre-litigation disputes, discovery obligations, attorney-client privilege, and data privacy.  In connection with high-profile litigation and investigation matters, Ms. Young advises on internal and external communications on behalf of the company.   Prior to going in-house, Ms. Young was a litigator at the San Diego and Dallas offices of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where she gained broad experience at all stages of commercial litigation and bankruptcy in state and federal courts. She is a graduate of the University of Washington, B.A. and the Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley, J.D.
