John W. Dunn
RetiredJohn Dunn, Esq., was born in Peoria, Illinois, and was educated at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and Wabash College, being elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa at Wabash. He attended New York University School of Law as a Root Tilden Scholar, was editor in chief of the Annual Survey of American Law, and thereafter clerked for the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He was president of the Colorado Bar Association in 1993 94. He is a life fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation and a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He is a past president of the Colorado County Attorneys Association and a past Chair of the Municipal Attorneys Section of the Colorado Municipal League. He served as Town Attorney of the Town of Avon from 1980 until 2008, except the years 1999-2001, and was County Attorney of Lake County from 1971 until 1993. From 2001 until 2018 he was Town Attorney of the Town of Blue River. He also represents the Eagle Valley Library District. Mr. Dunn is a member of the AV-rated firm of Mountain Law Group, LLC, Vail, Colorado. His practice emphasizes real estate, local government and land use issues.
