Brenda L. Storey

Brenda L. Storey, Esq., has been practicing family law for 25 years. She Chaired the Family Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association, and has been selected to The Best Lawyers in America by US News and World Reports, The Best Law Firms in America by US News and World Reports, as well as has been chosen as a Colorado Super Lawyer by Law & Politics and 5280 Magazine, and named a Top Lawyer by Denver Magazine. Ms. Storey has an AV rating with Martindale Hubbell as well as an AV Preeminent Judicial Edition rating with them. Ms. Storey has routinely presented at Continuing Legal Education Seminars, including ones only attended by judicial officers. She has also written on family law topics by way of articles in The Colorado Lawyer, the ABA Journal, and for the AFFC Colorado, as well as for the most widely recognized state treatises on domestic relations- Colorado Family Law & Practice - original 2 Volume Set, West Publishing, Vol. 19 & 20 of Colorado Practice Series, Dissolution of Marriage, Legal Separation, Declaration of Invalidity and Child Custody, West Publishing, Colorado Methods of Practice, and Dissolution of Marriage Chapter and Parental Responsibilities Chapter, The Practitioner's Guide to Colorado Domestic Relations Law, Continuing Legal Education in Colorado, Inc. Ms. Storey chaired the 2011 Family Law Institute, “Say You Want a Revolution,” and kick-off with headliner Alec Baldwin. She chaired the Family Law Basic Skills Seminar from 2009-2017. Ms. Storey is a Fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation and a member of the Legislative Committee of the Family Law Section. Ms. Storey has appeared in Forbes Magazine, Good Housekeeping, Women's Day and Redbook. She has been interviewed on the podcast “Shared Parenting after Divorce: Is 50/50 the Fairest Way?,” several radio shows, and by The Huffington Post. Ms. Storey is also a Colorado State Senate tribute recipient. Regarding her experiences with Ms. Storey, one metro area judicial officer stated “I'm not really a 'perfect score' kind of person, as I believe we all have room for improvement, but in [Ms. Storey's] case I would be at a loss trying to find anything to change or improve upon. From [her] must-attend (attorneys and judges alike) family law seminars through the CBA to [her] statewide reputation for advocacy (while adhering to a 'do no harm' mandate for families), [she is] the attorney that all of the judges hope walk into the courtroom on the tough cases.”
