Kimberly E. Dvorchak

Kim Dvorchak, Esq., is the Executive Director of the Colorado Juvenile Defender Coalition, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring excellence in juvenile defense and advocacy and justice for all children and youth in Colorado.  In her career as a juvenile defender, Ms. Dvorchak represented youth in juvenile court, criminal court, and appellate court, specializing in the defense of children prosecuted as adults.  Ms. Dvorchak was appointed to the Juvenile Justice Task Force of the Colorado Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice and the Interim Legislative Committee to Study School Discipline.  She presents continuing legal education workshops nationally on juvenile law, litigation strategies, and legislative reform.  Kim Dvorchak was awarded the Robert E. Shepherd Jr. Leadership Award for Excellence in Juvenile Defense by the National Juvenile Defender Center in 2009, the Kutak-Dodds Prize for equal justice by the National Legal Aid and Defender Association in 2012, and the Champions of Children Advocate by the Sewall Child Development Center in 2012.  She was recognized as a “Colorado Woman of Influence” by the Denver Post for her leadership reforming Colorado's direct file statutes in 2012.
