Magistrate Matthew Zehe has worked as a magistrate serving the Eighth Judicial District of Colorado since November 2006. Since May 2008, he has presided over the planning, implementation, and operation of the Eighth Judicial District's DUI Recovery Court, which, in 2017, became the first DUI court accredited by the State of Colorado. Magistrate Zehe also served as an attorney for the Colorado State Public Defender's Office from December 1995 to October 2006. As a deputy state public defender, he assisted in the planning, implementation, and operation of the Eighth Judicial District's juvenile and adult drug courts as a member of the executive committees for both courts. He graduated from Indiana University in 1991 with a degree in philosophy and earned his J.D. from the University of Denver in 1995.
