Charlotte N. Sweeney

U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado
Honorable Charlotte Sweeney is a Colorado native and a 1995 graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. On August 5, 2021, President Biden nominated Judge Sweeney to serve as a District Judge on the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. She was confirmed by the United States Senate on May 25, 2022, and received her commission on July 18, 2022. She is the first member of the LGBTQ community to serve as a federal judge in Colorado. Prior to her appointment, she spent her career as an attorney litigating on behalf of both private and federal sector employees in matters of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, whistleblower claims, wrongful discharge, and contractual disputes. Charlotte served as the Co-Chair of the Colorado Bar Association's Labor and Employment Section from 2007-2009. She was the 2015 and 2016 President of the Faculty of Federal Advocates. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Plaintiff Employment Lawyers Association (PELA) from 2003-2019.
