Kathryn M. Mutz

Kathryn Mutz, Esq., joined the professional staff of the Natural Resources Law Center in September 1996. She has a background in both law and natural resources management. Prior to her career in law, she worked throughout the West for state and federal government and private industry on scientific and public policy issues related to natural resources development. As a biologist, she specialized in wetlands, endangered species, and reclamation of disturbed lands. Following law school she clerked for Judge Janice Davidson of the Colorado Court of Appeals. Her legal research at the Center has included mineral development (primarily oil and gas), environmental justice, land conservation, forestry, and all aspects of community participation in resource management. Currently, she directs the Intermountain Oil and Gas BMP (Best Management Practices) Project. Kathryn leads conversation groups in English as a second language at her local library and Habitat for Humanity International building trips to various countries.
