Mitchell J. Ahnstedt
Office Of The Public DefenderMitchell J. Ahnstedt, Esq., graduated from the University of Denver College of Law in 1995. Otherwise uninspired, he discovered the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender (OSPD) while in law school and found his people. He interned for the OSPD and then began working as a licensed lawyer in the Denver Trial Office in 1995. He has practiced law in various Regional Trial Offices (Denver, La Junta, Arapahoe County, and Golden). From 2002-2004, Mitch, and his wife Jennifer, also served as public defenders in the Northern Mariana Islands. Mitch is now the Office Head of the Golden Regional Office. As a litigator, Mitch has tried a myriad of cases ranging from minor traffic offenses to First Degree Murder. Mitch is married to a fellow defender, Jennifer Ahnstedt, who is the Lead State Training Director for the OSPD. They have two teen-aged daughters, both of whom hate injustice in all of its forms.
