Mely Whiting, Esq., is legal counsel for Trout Unlimited, where she focuses on protecting, reconnecting and restoring Colorado's coldwater fisheries and their habitat.  She has practiced water, public lands and environmental law for over 20 years.  She was an Assistant Attorney General for the Colorado Attorney General's office in the early 1990s, was in private practice with the law firm of Moses, Wittemyer, Harrison & Woodruff, P.C. in the late 1990s, and before joining Trout Unlimited, was legal counsel with the Solicitor's Office of the Department of the Interior.  She has also taught environmental law courses to undergraduate students at Colorado Mountain College.  Mely was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, moving to the United States in the early 1980s. She holds a BA in Philosophy and a JD degree, both from the University of Utah.
